STEP 1. First you will need to create
your free Google sitemap HERE (opens to a new window).

STEP 2. Right click on the Google sitemap file
called site.xml and save to your computer.
Tip: Use the sitemap
circled in red in the screenshot below for small sites. For large sites use the
compress XML sitemap as circled in blue in the screenshot below.

STEP 3. Now, FTP the sitemap to your website. If
you do not know how to use FTP, see
this video
(opens to a new window).
TIP: Usually, you can just place the site map
in the same place as all the other pages of your website.
STEP 4. Log in to Google Sitemap Submission at
https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/login
using an existing Google account. The username is an email address of your
existing Google account and it's corresponding password. The email address can
be any email address and does not have to be a Google email address.

Note: If you have Adsense or Adword with Google, then you already have
a Google account that is attached to a particular email address. You would
also have a Gogole account if you have use any of their services including
Froogle, Google API, Google Groups, Google Alerts, etc.
If you do not have a Google account, create one by going to
https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount
STEP 5. Once loggged in, click on the "Add a Sitemap +" link.

STEP 6. Now, CAREFULLY enter the url for your site map making sure
that you enter the correct location or URL of the sitemap on your website.
Then, on the Google Sitemaps site, paste your exact
Sitemap URL into the box above the "Submit URL" button.

NOTE: This process takes you to a page
that says you have completed the submission but
you are NOT done yet. Now, you must verify your sitemap, so
don't close this window yet!
STEP 7. Once you see the page that says your
submission is complete, within a few seconds, you will see the following page.
Find the link that says "verify" and click on that link.

STEP 8. Now, you see a page of instructions that
says you need to create a verification file.
Make particular note of the file name that you will be using (circled in blue).
Leave this window open while you follow Steps
9 thru 12 of this tutorial that show you how to create the verification
file and how to upload it to your SBI website.

STEP 9. Keeping the Google Sitemap page open, create a
file with the extension .html using the exactly file name that Google gives you
(see the sample file name circled in blue in the screenshot above).
Tip: Just use the software Notepad found in
Windows Accessories to create the emply .html file. Do NOT use NoteTab.
The steps are easy.
Open Notepad.
Save the file but first be sure that you change the file type to 'ALL."
Then, copy and paste the file name from Google including the extension .html.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you DO NOT include the
period that is after the html when you copy the file name and make sure
that the file name is exactly the same as what is on the Google sitemap
verification page or Google will NOT
verify you.
Tip:
Save this file to somewhere on your computer where you can find tit.
STEP 10. Now FTP the .html file created in Step 8 to your website.
Typically this file is saved in the same location as your index file and your
Google sitemap.
STEP 11.
Now, Go back
to the Google Sitemaps window, click on Check Status.
Google will verify for the presence of the correctly named file. If it finds it,
Google confirms that your Sitemaps file has been verified. (If it does not find
it, then you will have to repeat Steps 8 thru 9 of this tutorial, being sure
that the copy and pasting of your URL was exact and accurate.)

STEP 12. Click on Return to My Sitemaps.

You will see that
the "verify" link
has become a "stats" link beside the site URL on your "My Sitemaps" page.

Click the "stats"
link for a report from Google. You should get the message: "We have not
encountered any trouble crawling your site. As we crawl regularly, you can check
back later to see updated statistics. "
SUMMARY All of this gets your Google Site Map submission done!
