When
creating a website with
Front Page, it is a good
idea to start with a
template that uses what are
called, Front Page Includes.
Includes are pages that are
included in other pages,
hence the name, "includes."
Includes are fully readable
by the search engines. The
content from an include is
place on the page before it
is read by your site visitor
or the search engines.
I always start by creating a
folder in my web called,
"includes."
Then, I create pages
containing content that will
remain the same on every
page of my web (or, at
least, those pages that I
want to "include" the
content).
An example would be my
navigation menu. Navigation
menus are always changing
and rather than have to
change every single page of
my site that has the
navigation menu on the page,
I build a separate page,
called in
navigationmenu.html and
place it in my folder
called, "includes."
But, I also use includes for
other common areas of my
website including the top
banner, a right column and a
footer.
Here is a screen shot of a
simple template using
includes where the sections
of the template labeled in
red will be included pages.
